Columbia Gorge to The Dalles, OR

| Heading east out of Portland on IS 84, we caught our only view of Mount Hood, as the clouds moved in later to obscure it as we got closer. We left IS 84 at Corbett to take scenic Hwy 30. At Corbett we found an information office to learn the best route to take. |

Hwy 30 passes several lookout points to see the Columbia river gorge. The first was at the Portland Women's Forum overlook (we almost missed it). |

A bit further along is the Vista House Crown Point lookout at Chantecleer Point, with a large viewing cupola. |
| Then there are several high waterfalls, where the water runs from the hills to the south into the Columbia river. |
| At the town of Hood River we headed south into the Fruit Loop and a Lavender farm. |
| Then some more photos on the Fruit Loop before heading to The Dalles. |

Entering The Dalles, the highway overpass sports fish on the railings. Our room at Cousin's Country Inn was one of the most convenient we have encountered, with a kitchenette and sofa placed to allow TV watching. Supper in the restaurant was great, as well. |
