Costa Rica 2005
Introduction

We spent the last two weeks of February 2005 in Costa Rica, our first time there. We booked a Tours Mont Royal / Air Transat package which included accommodation and a 4WD rental car. The accommodation was at four different locations: Two nights at the Best Western Irazu in San José on arrival. Four nights at the Flamingo Marina hotel on the north Pacific coast. Three nights at Hotel Cataratas in La Fortuna near the Arenal volcano. Four nights at the Arenal Pacifico hotel at Jaco beach on the mid Pacific coast. One night back at the Best Western Irazu, San José before leaving for home. The roads in Costa Rica generally have no shoulder and often a major drop-off, so they do not give many opportunities to stop for photos. However, we took a few and have posted them here, one page per stay. The miniature photos are pickable to see a larger version if you are interested. As a start, here are a couple of overview maps of Costa Rica, which is bordered on the north by Nicaragua and on the south by Panama. The areas we stayed in are shown on the first map as: San José, Flamingo, Arenal Volcano, Jaco and San José.
