Our 2005 visit to England followed a visit to Europe that was prompted by a reunion of #1 Fighter Wing RCAF, as shown in the pages Europe 2005. After the European jaunt we turned in our rental car at Paris' Charles de Gaulle airport on September 6 and caught a British Midlands flight to London Heathrow. From Heathrow we took a bus to London Stansted airport, where our return flight to Canada on Zoom Air was to depart seventeen days later. At Stansted we picked up another rental car and headed to a pre-booked B&B in Stebbing, a small village about half an hour from the airport. After a night in Stebbing, we headed to Farncombe near Guildford to visit Heather and family for a few days. Then we headed to Cornwall with a one night stop in Torquay, to spend a week in an apartment by the sea in Mevagissey. After a relaxing week with some sight-seeing in Cornwall we headed to Hook, near Swindon, for a couple of nights to see the Cotswalds. Then off to Great Yarmouth on the east coast for two nights to have a peek at the Norfolk area. And finally back to Stebbing for two nights for a peak at Cambridge before catching our flight to Canada on the 23rd of September.
