Today's visit is to the world-famous Three Gorges Dam.
As always, there is a modern reception area with security checks. Lines of busses await their loads. |
| From the bus we see one of the locks. There are two sets, one for each direction. |
| The escalators to the lookout area are a sight in themselves. |
| Descriptive signs and photos give and idea of the immensity of the project - 17 years and 180 billion Yuan ($30 billion). |
| A model gives a good overview in the model and gift shop, with its welcome air conditioning. |

After the dam visit we had another hour or so on the ship, spent trying to dry clothes from the sweaty visit (suitcases already out). I held mine over the balcony railing, hoping not to let go. The porters carrying our suitcases up the hill to the bus had a tough job. |
